Is Your Child's Day Care Legit?
This is an on going theme across the nation with licensed providers who take a lot of heat from the DCF – Department of Children and Families – simply because they are licensed. Seems you can do just about anything so long as you don't get the license. Once you get it, you become the target for state abuse.
The question is why?
Most illegal family day care homes want payment under the table. In other words, they don’t want to pay taxes on what they earn. Must be nice. You do the math. If childcare care costs $100 per child and there are five children, your provider’s income is $500.00 per week and she has no overhead.
Perhaps we should all petition the Federal government to let us take our first $500.00 per week, if we make that much, tax free. If some of the population gets to do that, then everyone should.

The Department of Children and Families does licensing on child care facilities
and family run in-home day cares.
Child Care Homes in Duval, Nassau,
Clay and St. Johns counties must be licensed if the operator is caring for
children from more than one unrelated family group.
In Baker County, DCF
reports there are a handful of registered homes as well as homes that are
licensed. The difference is, registered homes are not inspected by DCF.
First Coast News is the only local media outlet grading local day cares
every Tuesday night at 11 p.m. If you have questions regarding your child's home
day care or facility, call DCF at 904-723-2064.
