Council Offers Parkland to Preschool
Tuesday, 30 May 2006.

Alice Springs Town Council says it has decided to give a portion of a public park to the Teppa Hill preschool so it can expand.

Alice Springs Mayor Fran Kilgariff says the area in question is adjacent to the preschool and is estimated by council to be worth about $50,000.

She says the council will now be seeking assistance from the Northern Territory Government to redevelop the remainder of the park.

"In giving that to the preschool we're going to have to move the existing playground equipment that we would write to the Northern Territory Government, as in the Department of Education, and ask for a contribution to putting up new playground equipment which is up to Australian standards in the part of the park that is now still public property," she said.
