Garden School Tattler

It's been a really busy week. Lots of the kids have been down with "I'm almost sick, but only enough to whine a lot." It's OK, that's how this season begins.

The season ends, however, with a big Thanksgiving play, and we are beginning right now to practice. We will do auditions today and next week your child will bring home some lines to say. Please help him with these lines.

Today is fine arts day. Every year we try mosaics and every year only a few of the kids get it. This is one of the great exercises in art - can you take something and make it look like something else. Please offer your child some compliments for his work today.

During this season, we review what it must have been like when the Pilgrims arrived. We will be making seasonal foods like cranberry breads and pumpkin pies and one day we will roast a turkey. We will be making pot cheese and home made breads. I am growing a wild yeast as we speak. If parents want to see it or have some, please let us know.

Please encourage your child to try different foods. It will help him to be a citizen of the world. You know what the complaint about Americans who travel is? They can't eat anything that doesn't have a big giant yellow M above it. Let's start now to introduce tastes.

Yesterday we were told by our Officer Friendly Program that too many younger groups want a police program. After talking to our old Officer Friendly, he said our best bet was to call the Sheriff's department and have an officer come by on a regular occasion. I called yesterday and Officer Brian came out. We want to have a really good relationship with those brave men who serve our neighborhoods and schools.

Please check you your child's behavior in Circle Time. The kids are winning all kinds of rewards. I'm so proud of them! Please encourage your child to listen. That's how many of the children are winning prizes.
