The Garden School Tattler
We won, we won, we won, we won. Of course we did! We have the absolute best group of parents and grandparents in the tri-state – enhance that – the whole world! We had 6000 votes they said as they made the presentation on a very very hot day.
We won 200 toys to be shared with another school. That gives us a bunch of new toys. I can’t wait to see them! They arrive next Monday, and the cameraman will be back on Tuesday to film the kids playing. We think it would be neat for parents to come and play too. Parent involvement is so important to us. Plan to spend some time with us on Tuesday and enjoy the bounty of hard work! Possibly about 11:00 a.m. We’ll keep you posted.
I planned on Lasagna for lunch, and you’re all invited! We’ll toss a big salad and use that 25 pounds of cottage cheese the dairy accidentally left for us. It will be a little cheesy, but then what’s a little cheese between friends?
We’ll plan a play day and work it around answering questions. We’ll Consider it work, and we’ll be very sensible and keep the laughing to a dull roar. Earphones anyone?
I’m really excited and blame it all on you and Miss Molly.
As for the rest of today - it went fairly well – even for the heat. We came in early and started class on time. We had sticky buns on the patio with some of the best apples we had.
The kids literally yelped the Star Spangled Banner after the pledge, and we all thought, mmmm, one of those days again. As I scrapped Mrs. St. Louis’s rabbit pen – that’s what I do, you know when I’m not writing or doing music or French. As I listened to her, I realized just how kind she is. She has a real voice for teaching, and the children absolutely love her. She’s so kind, so in tune with them. I always find a few minutes in her room rewarding.
I got to read today. I read Verdi. He’s a python, you know, and he does things pythons do. Dhezmond kept asking what kind of snake he was. The story was cute. Verdi didn’t want to grow up because he thought he’d be different grown than he was when he was little, and he really tried not to grow, but ended up big anyway, and what to his wondering eyes did he see? That we are the same big as little, we are we and will always be we – me – no matter how big.
Lunch was spaghetti with meat sauce. The kids love the fact there are no veggies – just meat and red sauce. We had cottage cheese, apples and oranges and salad and bread and milk. It was so hot, the kids just labored over their meal. We went out for a few minutes and had popsicles on the patio and then came in to learn a few new French words and sang a few apple songs and “Blessed Be the Lord,” which they screamed. I threw tootsie rolls to the kids who still had their medals. Boy does that honk off the kids who lost theirs. The kids are figuring out Bingo. We’re still listening to coronation music. They’re catching on to that as well.
Mrs. St. Louis taught religion. Then the toy guys came in. Catch it on tonight’s Fox 7 broadcast. Be sure to email the station and tell them what a great program the toy program for kids is. We closed the day with home made peanut butter cookies.

Glad we won the toys. Colleen and I were talking on the phone and I was asking when it would be announced so I could turn on the TV at work and see it, when Austin said they won. We asked how he knew and he said the TV guys told us. Colleen got to see him on TV. If anyone happen to record it, I would like a copy
