The Garden School Tattler

It's just for fun day.

Just for fun, consider what it would be like to let the kids finger paint on the kitchen floor. It's easy to mop up and there is plenty of space. You could try using shaving soap.

Just for fun, let the kids find clay in the ground and let them make a set of dishes to dry in the sun.

Looks like it's going to rain. Let's let the kids stand in it until they don't want to anymore. Take your shoes off and just get wet. Then it's a hot bath and a cup of tea. Tea is good for kids because it's the only food in the world we know has fluoride in it.

Just for fun and desert, try this new cake recipe. Delete any foods you're not crazy about.

On the bottom of a mixing bowl put one cup of bran cereal and 2 cups of milk

add:
3 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
6 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
3/4 up canola oil (good for heart and digestion - better than other baking oils)

Mix. Batter should be like thick pancake batter; if it is too dry add more milk.

add:

2 bananas
1 cup coconut
1 cup walnuts, chopped or unchopped
1 cup raisins

Bake at 350 degrees until brown on top. Makes excellent muffins or a cake.

Frost with blackberry or raspberry jelly and powdered sugar.

This week in school we are looking at dinosaurs. We will look at the life of a paleontologist and an archaeologist. We will learn to draw a dinosaur. We will eat dinosaur eggs for lunch on Wednesday. We will eat "rock web" or bran waffles with Amber jelly - maple syrup.

We will talk about the theory that the dinosaurs did not die out but instead became our birds. Look at the conformation of each, and you will see very interesting similarities.

We will enjoy cool weather this week. Please do not dress children as if it is winter. Even in winter children can be hot. Over dressing is much worse than under dressing. We can always add a layer, but it's tough to be naked in school.
