Halloween

It was a busy day on Wednesday. We gathered the children together and had some sticky buns for breakfast - easy on the stomach. We modeled our Halloween costumes and marveled at how wonderful everyone looked. We had several princesses, and a gorilla, and a dragon-dinosaur, a few Spidermen, a Batman, a train - Diesel - a pirate, an Indian, a Ninga, some foot ball players, and the list goes one.

We got ready to go to Boonville to visit the elderly - toileting the children in costume is always a bit of a trial, but the kids were great. One little girl flipped her whole costume off and marched into the stall wearing only her panties - hilarious!

The bus ride delighted the children - Miss Sandy drives a Mercedes!

The residents had treats for the kids, and we had treats for them. Our children had carefully decorated bags, and we filled them with apples, peanuts, crackers, chips, and granola bars. The residents had candy for us which the children devoured. We met the residents ( my mother in the picture age 90) who rarely get to see children. We hugged and hugged and sang our Halloween songs which were very cute.

When we arrived back at school we had homemade chicken noodle soup, bread and fruit - again easy on the stomach. Cole threw up and had to go home.

The party was fun and the children seemed to enjoy all the treats and sweets. Thanks to all the parents who contributed.

The afternoon ended early so the children could get out on the streets early. We know that early dismissals are tough on some parents, but these are important days for the children and parent participation is one of the necessities of raising children.
