The Garden School Tattler

It's been play week, and the kids have been great. They are very serious actors and are taking their roles very seriously. This morning was fru-fru morning. We unveiled the costumes and the "accessories." Plastic shoes with that dyed ostrich plume trim, tiaras, fru fru crowns, beads, and then the costume - golden embossed iridescent rainbow skirt with net underpinnings. Silver moons and stars printed midnight purple skirt with Peter Pan hem and net underpinnings. Tulle, tulle, tulle and more tulle. Black netting over white netting and iridescent purple and blue triangles - mmmmm - sounds like something Miss Molly would wear.

Acclimating to one's costume is a wonderful adventure if you're a five year old girl and there's a box of sparklies to wade through.

We had muffins before curtain call, and cookies on the patio after. We had a little run around the tables between acts. Then we had a story about the real adventure of the three bad pigs and the poor righteous wolf.

This year the play has been all fun. As the backdrop goes up and the ornaments come out, the kids seem to be working well with it. They are learning Slithery Snakes quite easily, and they are helping out the snakes who are supposed to solo it but can't. Their voices are too slender.

It's been a splendid week. The care and attention of the kids toward the play has been remarkable.
