Mother Teresa's Feast Day

I got this from a good friend. Her blog is listed below.

We Are All God's Pencils

"I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world," said Mother Theresa.

We are all God's pencils. If we are parents, we are the pencils God uses to write messages upon the hearts of our children.

We must listen to His Word, heed His voice, and submit to His will.

On those days when problems seem impossible, children are difficult, and schedules are frustrating, stop.

Stop. Say a quick and simple prayer - Jesus, if I am to be your pencil, show me how.

It doesn't have to be complicated, multi-tier, and difficult. Let Him use you to send a love letter to the world, beginning with your family.

Mother Theresa explained that too when she said, "Love begins by taking care of the closest ones - the ones at home." If we have children at home, they are with us only a few precious years. Make the most of that time.

Do we have to be super parent, juggle twenty things, and do them all well? No. Mother Theresa taught a lesson on that one too, "Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do... but how much love we put in that action."

What is most important is for us to show our love in our actions. When we serve others, we do it with all our might, all our heart, and all our strength...and all our love.

When we offer our love and ask to be His pencils, He will guide the path we draw.

Imagine an artist drawing a portrait of his own beloved child. He'll carefully capture that twinkle in the eye, the dimples in the smile, and those three funny freckles splashed across the forehead. That cowlick that always seems to spring when we least expect it will be there too. He lovingly draws each hair, every feature, and the spirit radiating from his child's face.

If a human artist can do that in a simple drawing, imagine how much more our Heavenly Father can do when we offer ourselves to Him and ask Him to make straight the path to the Lord.

We don't have to know every answer and anticipate every solution. He will clear the path and show us the way if we ask Him and pray, "Thy will be done."

We are all pencils in the hand of God.

Let Him use us to draw a magnificent world that radiates with His love and the peace that passes all understanding.

Come, Lord Jesus.

Written in honor of Mother Theresa, who died September 5, 1997.
