Penguins

Movie Review: Penguins

Penguins

Katy and Edith and Jackie and I went to see March of the Penguins. It was Jackie’s idea. It was a docudrama about Emperor Penguins. It was just marvelous. I couldn’t have enjoyed it more. I actually wept openly when the mother birds arrived back to join their little families.

It was beautifully filmed and really taught the notion of family from the human perspective, but using animals as characters. The story took in nine months of drama at the South Pole. It is truly a miracle of life.

It was sad in parts, and dealt with death in a matter of fact way. Some of the penguins die.

It was full of rejoicing as well and when the last of the baby penguins leapt into the sea for the first time looking like molting rafts, it was truly something everyone in the audience wanted to cheer.

Well worth seeing. A bit long for little kids.
