Japanese group donates dumptruck, day-care center

THE 30-member Japanese delegation led by Yujiru Fukuda of the Aishin Koksai Koryu Kyokai confirmed their donation of one dumptruck and cash for the building of a daycare center, during their courtesy call to Mayor Evelio Leonardia last Saturday. Leonardia thanked the delegation, and gave Fukuda a symbolic key to the city so that he can "open the door to Bacolod anytime."

The mayor also told the delegation that their previous donation of buses and daycare centers are still being used by the city today.

The Japanese further gave 11 pieces of reflectorized vests for traffic officers as a gift to the mayor. The traffic vests are donations to the city by Jojo Horii, son of Grace Alonsagay Horii, public relations officer of the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo. Grace Horii said the 11 vests are part of the 200 pieces that her son promised to send to Bacolod. She said the rest will be sent as soon as she returns to Japan.

The Aishin Group together with the ODAN-J, a society of Filipino workers in Japan, is guided by Grace Alonsagay Horii and her sister Eleanor Fukuda who are friends of the mayor and are constantly guiding their Japanese friends on visits to the city.
